“Forgiveness is the fragrance the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.”
-Mark Twain

Those of us who have been hurt find it hard to forgive when those who harm us do not show remorse. I don’t like dwelling on the negative. I feel like hating someone or holding a grudge gives that person too much power over me and I don’t like wasting the energy on negative forces in my life.
I do love this quote though as I find it to be a lovely thought. Perhaps those who have hurt me carry a piece of my pain with them as a karmic reminder? Perhaps that fragrance is what lingers as regret in my heart toward the ones I have wronged?
